Matthew Maidment/Byron Jones overcame lighting and starter motor problems to take
a clear win in torrential rain but were fortunate not to be excluded for excessive damage.
Epynt Motor Club - 5th/6th February
Kevin Davies/Dale Furniss lost time with an excursion on the opening section but
recovered to win the first running of the Powys Lanes in 23 years.
Caernarvonshire & Anglesey Motor Club - 5th/6th February
Iwan Pritchard/Gwawr Hughes emerged as winners from a rally long three way battle
for the lead in an event run in a gale.
Lampeter & District Motor Club - 19th/20th February
Dylan Davies/Dale Furniss took their third successive win on the Bro Caron after
the leaders at Petrol Phil Evans/Steve Herbert retired.
Brecon Motor Club - 5th/6th March
Steve Herbert made up for his disappointment on the Bro Caron by guiding Daniel
‘Lwni’ Jones to a Start to Finish win.
Newtown & District Auto Club - 6th March
Julian Reynolds beat Nick Elliot by just one second in Category 3. David Stokes
took another Category 2 win, while Simon Wallis was the victor in Category 1.
Tom Cave used the Modern event as a tyre testing session but still won.
Telford Auto Club - 12th/13th March
Richard Jerman/Iwan Jones won after just making their minute at one control
As their Escort picked up a puncture.
Harlech & District Motor Club - 19th/20th March
Arwel ‘Sbidi’ Hughes-Jones/Dylan John Williams put a run of bad luck behind them
as they took victory by exactly a minute from Kevin Davies/Dale Furniss.
Aberystwyth & District Motor Club - 23rd/24th April
Daniel ‘Lwni’ Jones/Dale Furniss won a battle of the ‘Mega-Escorts’, beating
Meirion Evans/Dale Bowen and Gethin Morgan/Steve Herbert in a three way fight.
Welsh Border Car Club - 30th April/1st May
Richard Jerman/Dale Furniss won after main rivals Phil Turner/Wyn Roberts suffered
a time consuming wrong slot.
Ecurie Cymraeg - 14th May
Howard Warren/Guy Woodcock beat Bob Gibbons/Stuart Cardell by just four seconds
to take their second successive HRCR Clubmans Championship win.
Newtown & District Auto Club - 14th/15th May
Mark ‘GT’ Roberts/Steve Price were awarded the winners’ laurels on a tie break from
Iwan Pritchard/Gwawr Hughes. Meirion Evans/Dylan John Williams would have taken
the win but for a, perhaps unjust, fail for booking in early.
Heads of the Valley Auto Club - 21st/22nd May
After finishing second on the previous three Welsh Championship rounds Meirion Evans/
Dale Bowen finally took a victory in another battle of the ‘Mega-Escorts’.
Dovey Valley Motor Club - 18th/19th June
Gary Thomas/Richard ‘Tyson’ Morris won a tough event made difficult by a combination
of a large number of rough tracks and torrential rain.
Bala & District Motor Club - 25th/26th June
Richard Jerman/Iwan Jones made it a hat trick of wins on the PK, finishing a minute
ahead of Stefan Davies/Rhodri Morgan.
Ross & District Motor Sports Club - 9th July
Worth Birkhill/Cath Woodman beat Jon Wood/Kevin Savage by just three seconds to
secure victory. They had been the fastest crew over the event’s fourteen tests.
Knighton Motor Club - 9th/10th July
On their first visit to the area Daniel Jones/Graham Dance took victory. Gethin Morgan/Steve
Herbert and Richard Jerman/Iwan Jones both retired while leading.
Bala & District Motor Club - 17th July
Ieaun Rowlands/Aled Edwards led throughout the wet event to give Edwards his third
successive win on the event.
Brecon Motor Club - 31st July
Peter Lloyd dominated the rally, leading from Stage One and finishing a minute and a half
ahead of the field. David Stokes won the Historic Rally in his Category Two RS1600.
Barcud Motor Club - 6th/7th August
Hywel Davies/Nick Bloxham won by two seconds from Stefan Davies/Eurig Davies. The two
crews had been tied with one section to go but a mishap hindered Davies/Davies.
Clwyd Vale Motor Club - 3rd September
Roger Powley took his first rally win in more than 30 years when, guided by his son
Leigh, to victory on the inaugural running of the event.
Harlech & District Motor Club - 3rd/4th September
Ford Escorts filled the top ten places as Arwel ‘Sbidi’ Hughes-Jones/Eurig Davies took their
second successive win on the rally.
Aberystwyth & District Motor Club - 11th September
Mike Roberts/Dale Furniss won a closely fought daylight road rally which used four loops of
Sweet Lamb. Hefin George/Richard Hughes were runners up 20 seconds behind.
Caernarvonshire & Anglesey Motor Club - 17th/18th September
Gethin Morgan/Steve Herbert won to secure the Welsh Championship for Herbert. Once again
Escorts were to the fore with the model taking 11 of the top 12 places.
Welsh Border Car Club - 1st/2nd October
Ian ‘Dude’ Roberts/Gwawr Hughes broke the Escort domination of the Welsh Championship when
they took victory. Meirion Evans secured the Welsh Championship taking second place on a tie
break from title rival Gethin Morgan.
Gwendraeth Valley Motor Club - 8th/9th October
Mark Phillips/Tom Blackley won this novice event which consisted of a series of tests in the
afternoon followed by a half night road rally.
Caernarvonshire & Anglesey Motor Club - 5th/6th November
Stuart Deeley/Alistair Dodd took their Lotus Europa to a dominant win after their neatest rivals
fell by the wayside. Matthew Thompson/Graham Raeburn won the Junior Rally.
Ludlow Castle Motor Club - 26th/27th November
Ian ‘Dude’ Roberts/Gwawr Hughes finished just two seconds ahead of Meirion Evans/Iwan
Jones to win their second rally of the Autumn.
