Bill Chadwick/Alan Edwards took a narrow win on the CSMA's Civil Service Rally, the pair held off a challenge from Dave Chapman/David Taylor to make it a Peugeot 205 1-2.
The rally used a plot and bash format and covered a 180 mile route in Lancashire and North Yorkshire.
It was a difficult night for both competitors and organisers as a vital route hand out wasn't in place on time, marshals failed to get to their controls and code boards went missing.
While the top two runners were only separated by seconds, third placed Adrian Green/Paul Nelson (Seat Ibiza) were over three minutes off the lead, 12 minutes ahead of fourth placed Malcolm Grisdale/Bob Hargreaves (Subaru RX Coupe).
Steve Guest/Rob Guest (VW Golf) finished in seventh place and secured the combined Semi-Expert/Novice Class win.
The most significant retirement of the night was that of Dan Robinson/Ian Gibbins, they called it a night after bending the sump on the Proton Perjowa, their non-finish meant that the ANCC Championship was won by Steve Webster and Roger Hage, neither of whom were competing on the CSMA.
Top seeds Gary Gee/Jason Crook withdrew after missing a board, while Chris Day/Ric Chalmers had a drive shaft break on their Mini. A broken exhaust caused the demise of the Subaru Impreza of Robert Wakelin/Gavin Ford.
