The event, open only to competitors in the Peugeot 205 Challenge, was the first event to be organised by the newly formed Tregaron & District MC. Crews tackled eight tarmac stages, totalling 35 miles, all within the Mid Wales Activity Centre at Pontrhydfendigaid.

Gareth Nutt/Keith Haven and Tom Walster/Phil Carlin shared fastest time on SS1. Walster then fell back as Nutt sustained his pace. Nutt shared fastest times on SS2 and SS3 with Nipper and, despite Nipper taking fastest on SS4, Nutt reached the halfway halt four seconds clear. However Nipper was on a charge and wins on the four remaining stages saw him race into the lead and finish seven seconds clear of Nutt at the Finish.

The victory secured the 205 Challenge title for Nipper, while a win in the 1400ss class saw Robert Krucia take the 2004 honours in that category. Both drivers won a trip to Sweden for ice racing sessions in the folowing spring.

Third place, and top finisher in the Beginners class, had to be decided on Stage One times after Nik Blackhurst and Robert Wilson finished the rally on the same total, Blackhurst took the honours.

There were just two retirements during the day. Craig Pearce rolled his car on SS2, while George Thomas stopped on SS3 with a broken distributor.

Tim Moffitt/Wyn Davies were the fastest crew of the day, but were not eligible for overall awards as they were competing in a 1900cc 205. They finished five seconds ahead of Nippers/Powell after a slight off on the split on SS5; they continued, but with some damage to the front of the car.
