Daniel Jones/Daniel McLachlan took a commanding win against tough opposition on Lampeter MC’s Rali Dyffryn Aeron. They took the lead on the first section and were never headed over the 120 mile route.
There were just three sections. The first was 40 miles long and started by Talsarn and ran via Silian, Betws Bledrws, Llwyn-y-groes, Llanfair Clydogau and the Ffarmers Mountain Road to finish at Cwmann. Petrol was then taken at Ystard Aeron.
The second section start at Trefilan and used the lanes to the north of the A482, before crossing the main road for a run down to Dihewyd and Mydroilyn, and finished with an intricate piece, using farm tracks, at Llanarth. The third regularity began at Synod Inn and used more farm tracks on the way to Cribyn and then the Finish back at Ystard Aeron.
Gareth Jones/Carl Williamson led the challenge initially, they were just eight seconds behind the leaders at the petrol halt. However a failing turbo on their Subaru Legacy slowed them in the second half and they were passed for the runner up spot by Gary Davies/Aled Evans.
Davies/Evans had been in third at Petrol, 18 seconds behind the leaders. They finished the event 53 seconds off the lead, but 17 seconds ahead of Jones/Williamson.
Martyn O'Connor/Peter Collins overtook Tony Davies/Darren Garrod in the second half to secure fourth place at the end.
Gareth Evans/Gwynfor Jones and John Evans/Patrick Walsh were both challenging for top places when they retired in the second half. Evans/Jones broke a wheel while Evans/Walsh went off the road with just two mile to go.
Geraint Davies/Martyn Griffiths were clear winners of the Semi-Expert class, they led the category all night and finished in eighth place overall. Gari James/Andrew Evans just beat Iestyn Davies/Owain Davies to the top Novice award.
Fifty-eight of the seventy-five starters made the Finish.
