Winners: Graeme Sherry/Peter Weall (Ford Focus)
Graeme Sherry/Peter Weall took the overall win on Border Ecosse CC’s Early Winter Rally. They were the only crew competing in the Open class, which, due to more difficult navigation, was the only class eligible for the overall award.
The rally used a 90 mile route, starting at Kelso and finishing at Oxton and included roads used as stages on the Jim Clark Rally. The event was split into two rallies, a National B and a Clubman Rally, the latter the final round of the Tyneside Motorsport Group Championship.
Gavin Lloyd/Stewart McCondochie (Ford Fiesta) won the Non-Expert Class in the Nat B event, after Alan Cowan/Lock Horburgh (Peugeot 106) lost 30 minutes when the fuel hose became detatched.
The Clubman Rally was won by Robin Scott/Colin Pagan, who finished seven minutes ahead of the last minute pairing of Malcolm Holdsworth/Charlie Tynan.
In the Newcomer Category Peter Fleming/Paul Clough crashed their Ford Escort out of the event; the class was won by Christopher Dodd/Andrew Gibson (Peugeot 205 Rallye).
The strongest entry was in the Historic category, this was won by the Subeam Rapier of former Scottish Champion David Thomson, partnered by Eric Bridgewater, his victory margin would have been even bigger but for a fifteen minute penalty for missing a PC.
Barry Clough/Mark Clough (Ford Escort RS2000) failed to make the Finish.
