Baz Green/Rob Jones (Peugeot 205 GTi) took a narrow win on the Farrington Trophy Rally, to clock up the navigator's second victory on the rally, the previous one being in 1988. In fact the Clwyd Vale MC event hadn't run in fifteen years, but it made a very successful reappearance in 2004.

Farrington Trophy Rally 2004

Howard Price/Chris Webber (Ford Escort) lost time on the first section when a coil lead came off after a severe bump on a white, this incident also delayed Mark Price/Steve Griffith (Ford Escort) and Ian 'Dude' Roberts/Steve Herbert (VW Golf GTi). The two latter crews survived to take third and fourth places at the end. Price/Webber were eleventh.

Kevin Parry/Gareth Price (Toyota Corolla) led by 12 seconds at Petrol, but Green/Jones dropped just 40 seconds in the second half to secure the win. The two crews were separated by 33 seconds at the Finish.

Merfyn Hughes/Graham Dance (Subaru Impreza) could have taken second but a wrong approach cost them five minutes. They were classified in tenth.

In third place at Petrol were Dave Jones/Ian Vale (BMW 323), 21 seconds off the lead, but they struggled on the fifth section and dropped over four minutes to their rivals. They fell to seventh place.

Mei Jones/Gwawr Hughes (Vauxhall Astra) lost several minutes when they got stuck on a triangle. They finished in 13th.

Roger Hicks/Mark Hamilton (Ford Escort) were the leading retirement of the night, they hit a bank on the third section. Roger Powley/Leigh Powley (Hillman Imp) were excluded for a give way offence.

Gwyn Morris/Shaun Baker (Peugeot 205 GTi) took the Semi-Expert class, finishing in ninth place overall, while Mark Jones/Warren Caldwell (Peugeot 205 GTi) were the leading Novices.
