Dafydd Edwards/Clive Bayley emerged from a night long battle for the lead to win Harlech & DMC's James Trenholme Memorial Rally. This was the club's third road rally of the year, it was based entirely within the Llyn and was open to non-Expert crews only.
The winners fought throughout the night with the fellow Impreza crew of Aled Roberts/Edgar Jones; swapping the lead a number of times. The two cars were separated by just sixteen seconds at the end. This was the third year in succession that Roberts/Jones had taken the runner up spot.
The 85 mile route provided a tight fight for top places, with the first eight places being separated by little more than a minute.
Robert Jones/Eifion Thomas would have added to this number but were forced out by a broken track rod end.
A broken top hose on their Golf GTi meant that Steve Guest/Rob Guest had to cut the last section. Steven Kerr/Helen Kerr (Peugeot 205 GTi) were another crew who failed to make the Finish.
Rhys Roberts/Phill Todd (Toyota Corolla) would have been in the top ten, but picked up a fail for booking in early at one time control.
The top Novice crew were Alwyn Roberts/Rhys Lloyd Jones, who finished sixth, while Nerys Williams/Angharad Davies were 25th overall and took the best Beginners award.
Of the 59 starters, 44 made the Finish.
