The last minute pairing of Howard Price/Alan 'Fanta' Williams took a comfortable win on Harlech & District MC’s Rali Meirion.

The 120 rally started at Porthmadog, with competitive motoring starting on the tracks in the Maentwrog area. Unfortunately, the penalties on this section had to be scrubbed after a car went off the road and blocked the track for the second half on the field. The route then took crews to Bala for the halfway halt, before heading back west to finish Y Ffôr.
Huw Myfyr/Gwawr Hughes had led the event initially but they went out when the fuel pump failed on their Golf just prior to Petrol. It then looked as if Mei Jones/Steve Herbert were set for victory, but they rolled their Astra into retirement at 123/421¼392¼ just under two miles from the Finish.
Price/Williams took the win in front of the hard charging pairing of John Davies/Neil Bevan, who had been the fastest crew through the second half of the event, they moved up from seventh at Petrol to claim the runner up spot and maximum Welsh Championship points at the Finish. Only ten seconds behind the Astra pairing at the end were Simon Harrison/David Pedley.
Eifion Thomas/Paul Roberts took their Peugeot 205 GTi to fourth overall, 13 seconds ahead of Jason Hardy/Alan Jôs, who had had to contend with a down on power engine throughout the night.
Top seeds Carwyn Evans/Elfyn Richards lost three minutes after becoming stuck after a wrong slot, while fancied runners Gerallt Davies/Owen Dodd had to cut route after sliding into a ditch; they were fastest over the final section, but, with 20 fails, were classified in 38th and last place.
Merfyn Hughes was competing on a rally for the first time in a decade, and, with /Alec Harrison on the maps, took the Semi-Expert class in a hired Impreza. Bleddyn Jones/Iwan ap Llyfnwy won the Novice class by just thirteen seconds from Mark Williams/Colin Williams.
