Malcolm Grisedale/Bob Hargreaves took a narrow win on the Mitchell’s of Lancaster Morecambe Rally. The pairing, competing in their venerable Subaru Coupe, finished the 125 mile event thirty seconds ahead of the Cooper S of Pete Tyson/Neil Harrison.
Dave Jones/Ian Vale made the trip from North Wales and rounded off the top three, collecting valuable North Western Champion points in the process.
From the back of the field Ian Newton/Aaron Parker came through to take sixth place overall and were easily the quickest novice crew.
Geoff Hall/Paul Bosdet would have taken the win by almost three minutes but a missed route check saw them pick up a fail and they dropped to fifteenth. They did have the compensation of being the fastest crew through the eight mile Wray White section.
Steve Head/Graham Raeburn retired early on with a failed fuel pump, while Chris Day/Ric Chalmers withdrew with gear linkage problems.
