Ian 'Dude' Roberts/Andrew Moss won Welsh Border CC’s Border 100 Rally, it was the driver's first ever overall win.
The event, which was a counter towards the West Midlands Road Rally Championship, used a 130 mile route in the area to the South and West of Oswestry, the rally starting and finishing in the Shropshire town.
The event saw a night long battle for the lead between the VW Golf of Roberts/Moss and the Peugeot 205 of Brynli Thomas/Paul Edwards. The decision was in doubt until the latter pairing wrong slotted on a foggy section in the second half, they lost almost a minute and allowed Roberts/Moss to take win with a victory margin of just thirty seconds.
Moonbeam winners Wayne Morris/Paul Middleton finished a further minute down in third, having had difficulty getting into the flow of the event.
The 2002 winners Glyn Price/Huw Jones were going well until an engine fire brought their Escort to a halt just prior to the halfway point. John Walsh/Neil Spiers were clean after two sections but then went off the road, they burnt out the clutch on their VW Golf getting back on the tarmac. A split hose caused the retirement the Peugeot 205 GTi of Tony Gush/Brynmor Pierce.
There was a good battle for the win in the Semi-Expert class with local knowledge allowing Gareth Jones/Iwan Jones to beat Steve Wynn/Chris Wynn, the two crews finishing in seventh and eighth places overall.
In the Novice Class Adrian Griffiths/Dean Davies took the class win, finishing just over a minute ahead of Bob Tansley/Neil Smallman.
