17th/18th February 2007
Clerk of the Course: Geraint Jones
Route: 70 Miles
Maps: 114
Starters: 59
Winners: Merfyn Williams/Paul Morris (Vauxhall Astra)
Merfyn Williams/Paul Morris took first place by just one second on the Valentine Rally on Saturday night. However, on this novice oriented event, the major award, the Valentine Trophy, went to Peter Williams/Huw Hughes, the top novice crew who finished second.
The rally opened with two short tests at the Anglesey Showground, these were followed by the three road sections, the first of which was two hours long with no ITCs but 32 PCs. Eight crews cleaned all but the two tests and this ensured a close result with the first four places being separated by just two seconds. Williams/Hughes took the runner up spot from Tom Edwards/Lee Evans by virtue of having been faster on the first test.
Richard Roberts/John Williams had been the fastest crews on the tests by five seconds but they went out after making contact with a wall on a road section.
