Clerk of the Course: Denis Cardell
Route: 180 Miles
Maps: 147, 160 & 161
Starters: 37
Winners: Roger Holder/Peter Barnard (Honda Civic)
Roger Holder drove former Southern Western Champion Peter Barnard to his first Welsh rally victory when the pair took first place on the Gremlin Rally.
Holder/Barnard picked up the least penalties of any crew on the opening Jogularity section and then avoided dropping any more time over the next 46 time controls on standard sections. They thus finished almost a minute ahead of runners up Rob Wilson/Dylan Jenkins.
In fact the first six crews in the final classification picked up their only penalties of the night on the Jogularity.
The Jogularity was more navigationally demanding than has been experienced on the Gremlin previously and a number of crews made errors. Most notably Daniel Jones/Dale Furniss missed two of the eight controls and, despite cleaning the rest of the event, finished well down the order in 17th place.
Arwel Hughes Jones/Dylan John Williams struggled on the Jogularity but, contending with a slipping clutch, they finished in eighth place.
Two fancied crews disappeared early on, these were Hywel Davies/Richard Morris and former winners Richard Jerman/Iwan Jones. The latter went out after just a few miles with rear axle problems.
The Semi-Expert crew of Steve Hopkins/Jon Davies had held third place initially but retired after the first petrol halt.
