Tour of Anglesey
Caernarvonshire & Anglesey Motor Club
13th/14th February 2010
Clerk of the Course: Lee Matthews & Gruffydd Parry
Route: 120 Miles + 10 Tests
Maps: 114
Starters: 27
Winners: Mike Vokes/Matthew Vokes (Hillman Imp)
The father and son team of Mike Vokes/Matthew Vokes won the Tour of Anglesey, an event that provided a stiff challenge for the navigators. Very few crews completed the course having visited all the controls.
Although the rally included ten tests, the positions were decided on the performances over the public road regularity sections. Even for the experienced HRCR competitors it was a stern challenge.
Vokes/Vokes jumped from sixth at the Sunday mid-morning halt to having a lead of three minutes after the most demanding of sections. They continued their consistent performance to maintain the margin to the Finish.
Ian Crammond/Nigel Raeburn took the runner up spot and had two minutes in hand over third placed John Sykes/Nick Cooper. John Lythaby/Shon Gosling took fourth and a class win in the oldest car in the field, Riley 1.5.
Paul Richards/Peter Cox had led after the opening regularity sections but, along with many others, fell foul of one of the trickier pieces of navigation and dropped to fifth at the end.
Endaf Davies/Baz Green finished in last place having struggled with the navigation and a broken clutch cable, however they were the fastest crew over the ten tests.
