Road Rally Register
21st August 2010
Clerk of the Course: Roger Hunt
Route: 150 Miles + 5 Tests
Maps: 183 & 184
Starters: 47
Winners: Andy Lane/Paul Robinson (Mercedes-Benz 300SE)
Andy Lane took his Mercedes-Benz 300SE to another victory as Paul Robinson guided him to victory on a demanding inaugural Tour of Wessex, which, for the majority of its length, used the tracks on Salisbury Plain.
The pair finished the day over a minute ahead of long time leaders Jon Wood/Cath Woodman, who were one of many to lose times on a section using a series of grass tracks.
Top seeds Martin Neal/Mick Briggs had a poor day being one of 14 crews to gain wrong approaches at the first ITC. Bob Taylor/Jeanne Taylor held second place for most of the day before being penalised for a wrong test in the afternoon.
Jamie Turner/Matt Heal took the least penalty of any competitors – four minute fewer than the winners – but were not eligible for overall awards as they ran in the Introductory class for modern cars.
