21st/22nd May 2011
Clerk of the Course: Matthew Maidment & James Morgan
Route: 120 Miles
Winners: Meirion Evans/Dale Bowen (Ford Escort)
Meirion Evans/Dale Bowen finally took a win on a Welsh Championship event having finished in second place on all of the last three rounds of the series.
The 1000 Lanes saw battle rejoined between the crews of three quickest Escorts currently competing. Daniel Jones/Dale Furniss have been the most successful of these crews so far. They were only two seconds behind Evans/Bowen when they ran out of fuel within five miles of Petrol. They managed to acquire some petrol but dropped over 23 minutes on the section. They finished in 27th position.
Gethin Morgan/Steve Herbert in the third Escort lost touch with the winners in the first half, arriving at Petrol 59 seconds down. They managed to claw a little time back in the second half but, on this occasion, had to give best to the Wales Motorsport Fabrication machine.
Will Arrowsmith/Ceri Davies took third, finishing just nine seconds in front of Reian Jones/Patrick Walsh, who lost time with a puncture. Elliot Gray/Marc Hughes followed up their strong showing, and Semi-Expert class win, on the Gremlin by taking fifth place.
Kevin Davies/Lowri Davies put their Escort off the road and broke a wheel. This incident blocked the road and delayed both Rob Wilson/Dylan Jenkins and Chris Jones/Carl Williamson.
