Roger Powley took his first rally win in over 30 years when, guided by his son Leigh, he won the inaugural Clwyd Vale Classic. The event was decided on the final regularity of the day when over half the field failed to find an intermediate time control. Most notably long time leaders Howard Warren/Iain Tullie missed the TC, the resultant five minute penalty dropped them to second place. Ronnie Griffin/Anthony Preston led initial but went out when a driveshaft broke just before the lunch halt.
