The Border 100 once again turned into a battle between the VW Golfs of Mark ‘GT’ Roberts/Steve Price and Ian ‘Dude’ Roberts/Gwawr Hughes, with the former crew beating the latter by a scant six seconds at the Finish.
However the fight had been a three way struggle for most of the rally with the Astra of John Davies/Nick Bloxham being the interloper. They had been just two seconds down on the winners at Petrol and then moved into the lead immediately after the restart. They had extended their advantage to 36 second when, with just two sections remaining, a drive shaft broke and they were out.
After a series of recent retirements Neil Weaver/Sam Collis were very pleased to make the finish and take third overall, three minutes down on the winners.
Meirion Evans had Dylan John Williams on the maps as regular navigator Iwan Jones took on Clerk-of-Course duties. Unfortunately their rally ended with the Escort rolling in front of a spectating Jones.
