Matt Warren/Cath Woodman took their second win of the year when they led from near the Start on the Leukaemia Historic Rally.
Steve Entwhistle/Bob Hargreaves took fastest time, by one second from Warren and others, on the opening test at Chepstow Racecourse, but then blotted their copy book by taking the wrong route on the next test; they went on to finish in seventh.
Warren/Woodman then took a lead they weren’t to lose. By the mid-morning coffee halt they were a minute ahead of the field and kept that margin through to the Finish. During the day they put in both the best performance on the tests and picked up least penalties on the regularities.
Tour of Cheshire winners, Andrew Mallagh/Paul Harley, took the runner up spot, having fought their way back from sixth place in the morning.
Simon Harris/Gavin Rogers were one of only two entries in the Targa Rally but put in a performance that would have seen them finish third in the Historic event.
