Jim Deacon/Ian Doble took a popular win on the Ross Traders Historic Tour on Saturday. The pair emerged in the lead after the first regularity, the longest of the day, and held the position until the lunch halt. A couple of big penalties on the first section in the afternoon saw them drop to third but they appeared back at the front by the Finish. They ended the day more than a minute clear of the field. The results makes them major challengers in the HRCR Clubmans series, as the current leaders, Steve Entwhistle/Bob Hargreaves, finished fourth.
Roger Powley/Leigh Powley had chased hard all day and briefly led before falling back to the runner up spot after the last Regularity. Matthew Warren/Cath Woodman had also had a turn at leading but took a test maximum on the final test after their Escort stopped with fuel vapourisation problems.
Both competitors and marshals had to endure heavy thunderous showers right the way through the day.
